Last week, my partners at Head Start lost federal funding for their regional sites. In the Pacific Northwest, that’s Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Idaho. It’s heartbreaking news. These are my friends. My colleagues. These are children that I see playing joyfully with dedicated adults in their lives when I visit centers. If you want to see the science behind investing in young children, click the button below. These are facts. We invest now, or we pay later. Read it here now.

I’ve vacillated between anger, resentment, deep sadness, outrage, and despondence. Right now, I’m sitting in action. Here are things I’m doing that you can do too:
For FREE:
- Call your senators and congresspeople
- Volunteer in early childhood spaces
- Spread the word about the importance of early childhood programs through social media and email
- If you have a large platform, or influence, us it now.
- Here’s a great way to advocate for Head Start!
Children are our most valuable resource. Where we put money and where we take money from is a direct reflection on our value as society. So, if you’re with me, let’s rally around early childhood programs. Let’s support them. Let’s advocate for the youngest voices who need us.
